MALCOLM ROLLICK
Singer-Songwriter

Performed:
Mary, Ride, Breaking Strays, Water to Wine, Time. A set of homegrown songs, and a few stories spun right on the stage.... Malcolm has a tendency to write her best songs before a live audience, so you can never be 100% sure what to expect.

On participating in Vagina Festival 2007:
The Vagina Festival is important to me because someone once said to me "didn't we win the woman's rights struggle in the 60's?" and because every woman I have every loved has a sad and beautiful story to tell about living in her body.

About Malcom Rollick:
I am at times overwhelmed by the mysteries we encounter in this life. Not least of these is the story that winds out through each individuals experience of having a body. In a world that opts for control over rhythm the female body is a constant target, and an immovable force. In her very nature she suggests that the tempo of life is out of our hands.

VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN >
At least one out of every three women around the world has been beaten, coerced into sex, or otherwise abused in her lifetime — with the abuser usually someone known to her. Violence against women and girls is a universal problem of epidemic proportions.

reclaiming peace

V-Day's 2007 theme Reclaiming Peace seeks to make the connection between the worldwide anti-violence work of V-Day activists with our collective desire for peace and an end to armed conflicts. "We are saying that if a government supports the use of force, weapons, violence as a method of control and dominance, this models and gives license to the same kind of behavior at home," stated V-Day Founder/Artistic Director Eve Ensler.
