TATIANA SUAREZ PICO
Actress, THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES
On performing The Vagina Monologues:
Audre Lorde said “Your silence will not protect you”, and she was right. The more we hush out the inujstices committed against women the more we put ourselves in danger. I can't think of a better time or a better venue to speak up. I have a little brother and I want him to know, I want him to see the reality of women so that he may grow up to be a different man; one who stands up against violence.
About Tatiana Suarez Pico:
Tatiana received her MFA from the Actors Studio Drama School in May 2005. Her favorites theatre credits include, “The Engagement”,“Boxing the Sun”,“THAT Takes Ovaries!” “Whistle”, and “Nueva Canción”. Film credits include, “Them”,“On the Down Low”, and ”Evergreen”. Her next projects include the performance piece “Three Dicks”, about three Latin American dictators and the college tour of the show “Yo Soy Latina!.”
Tatiana thanks Michelle Dean and Alexandra Jacoby for this fantastic opportunity. And, may the violence end.

VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN >
At least one out of every three women around the world has been beaten, coerced into sex, or otherwise abused in her lifetime — with the abuser usually someone known to her. Violence against women and girls is a universal problem of epidemic proportions.

V-Day's 2007 theme Reclaiming Peace seeks to make the connection between the worldwide anti-violence work of V-Day activists with our collective desire for peace and an end to armed conflicts. "We are saying that if a government supports the use of force, weapons, violence as a method of control and dominance, this models and gives license to the same kind of behavior at home," stated V-Day Founder/Artistic Director Eve Ensler.
